Default What's the widest I can go without rubbing issues

Hi guys just looking into changing my wheels for no reason other than a change , i'm kind of liking the wider look of rims these days but am not a fan of stretched rubber or arch rolling , all that stuff is not for show imo and I'm more about the drive first and show appeal second ,
So back to the original question ? Would something like 8"-8.5" fit under ok without issues
My car is a version 8 sti running tein coilovers

18x8.5 et44 or something there abouts would be the limit running 225,40,18s , without doing any arch mods etc

I have 9j et35 fitted on a blob sti , with 225/40/18 tyres had too use 3mm spacers on the front to clear brembo's , but have done no arch mods or anything and have no rubbing at all
even on hard driving

Thanks there

We are running 9.5JX18" ET38 and we have rolled arches at front and rear plus we are using too on the front camber bolts

With 8.5J your car will looks good too,if you are somewhere near to Mags would recommend pop there with your car and you will see, which will best suit yours

The 9's look nice mate , Is your car lowered ? I'm running tein coilovers and she sits a little lower than standard , 8.5 seems to be the safest/best compromise ,
