Default Brake fluid ??

Just done a search but seem to get varied answers.

Currently got Porsche 6 pots up front with 356mm AP discs.
Rears are standard calipers with uprated discs and pads.

Basically it's time to completely change my brake fluid. It hasn't been done for a few years so needs doing. Pedal has also started to feel a little more spongey over the last few weeks so hoping some fresh fluid will solve it.

Question is which fluid should I use ?
Car is used on the road only but driven pretty hard and the brakes do get a good workout.
Any recommendations and how much should I purchase.

Thanks as always chaps,
Matt.

Any dot 5.1 fluid will be good, I use TWR but others will do. 1 litre should be enough but best to have a second bottle in reserve just in case.

hard to quantify without knowing how "hard" your driving it and what current fluid your using............
for a faast road car then the likes of motul 5.1 is one of the better performing road fluids but for more arduous use then personally i would suggest Motul RBF600/Millers 300+ or for the "ultimate" race fluid then Performance Friction RH665

I drive pretty quickly but not on the edge. It's only ever used on the road so not pushed too far.

Found this -

Or this -

I think both are only dot 4. If you give it some & hammer your brakes a 5.1 would be better.

dont get dragged into the DOT numbers as they are min stds for certain applications..............it doesn't always make a 5.1 "better" than a 4, etc..........
most race fluids fail to make the grade for the ABS tests that earn the 5.1moniker simply due to life and yet will far out-perform them temp wise...........

both of those listed you can get better prices or better products for less, you just need to know where to shop LOL

Well got some today.
Went in to my local Halfords and the young lad kindly offered me a Halfords trade discount card. Only condition was I had to go get my Impreza for him and his fellow colleagues to look at, lol.
While in there getting a few bits I saw some of their high performance 5.1 brake fluid. Would of been near on £20 but with the trade discount card I got it for £5 !!!
It says on the bottle it's for high performance cars so we'll see how it is.
Can't grumble at that and surely it's gonna be good enough for a fast road car.

we have found that the newer Performance Friction RH665 will give you far better feel and modulation as well as easily similiar performance at less cost than SRF..........

The lad was an Impreza fan and had seen my car parked up somewhere before. Basically just had to go get it so him and his pals could have a closer look.

You'll need a litre of fluid.

Don't bleed them dry buddy. I started at the front and kept topping the reservoir up. As soon as I had new fluid bleeding out I stopped and moved onto the next caliper.

When bleeding, if you have someone else pressing the pedal, you WILL see when new fluid comes through, trust me

Hopefully this new stuff (305C Gulf oil) will help on the track. My pedals went very soft when stopping from 132mph at Bedford Autodrome (to the point of running off onto the grass) - a mate of mine thinks the oil is to blame more than the discs and pads! Think I'm going to keep my standard discs, get Mintex 1155 pads and replace the oil.
I'll get 1.5L and do the whole system. If I have 500ml left I'll stick it on fleabay!

I've been using Ate super blue racing. Works nice for hard driving on the streets. To this season I bought Perdormance Friction RH665. I've heard that its really good.
