Change it immediately. Could blow out at any moment. I wouldn't drive on it at all personally.

Did you go up a kerb / mountain?

Be really lucky if it's a batch fault, replaceable under warranty

I don't recall a particularly bad pot-hole hit but then I'm just used to them around our way. Probably gets a good dunt once a week

Any online resource for checking tyre batches to see if it is defective?

That's not defective mate, it's been tw@tted. last pic, you can see where the tyre has scrubbed and left a mark right next to the damage.
Looks more like kerb damage than anything else tbh

It's never seen a kerb in its puff though. Alloys are corroded to death, but have never been kerbed (nor the tyre). Probably been a pot-hole at some time. Edinburgh roads are the utter pits.

In that case, find a bad pot hole, photo the life out of it, and bang a claim into the council.
My mate did it and got a new tyre!
I believe though, that it has to be a pot hole that has been reported to them, but they have yet to repair, so you may need a little detective work, probably be better to pick one thats on a main road or somewhere thats really likely to have been reported

looks like its been pinched maybe between a kerb or something, you think thats bad, you ought to see the tyre on the missus car, it had twisted along the tread in an s pattern all the way round the tyre, god knows what had caused it but it was very very bad

I hit a pot hole could not avoid it due to cars other side of road, It done similar damage to the above photo i took a pic and sent a claim form in to the council for a new Tyre, The hole was already marked yellow and was waiting repair, I was told by friends there won't pay out, I never chased it and a month later i got a cheque
