Default Orange Stuff Pads

Who has a set of these for a Subaru?

Rumour has it that there are currently only two sets for the Subaru, Paul Doyle has some and I have the other. I'm fairly certain there are a few more sets out there but I've been told that they arent officially for sale yet.

The reason I ask is that EBC havent officially released them because they are waiting feedback from the sets that have been released.

So basically its looking like I've forked out money on pads that I'm effectively testing. Now I'm quite happy to test products out but I dont see why I should have to pay for the privelidge.

By the same token I dont mind paying for pads that are the final released version but I'd rather not pay for pads that are effectively still being developed and tested.

Can anyone else let me know if you have a set also if you have what do you think of them because so far I'm really really happy with mine.

Daz
You don't have test sets , they were thoroughly tested on EBC's test rig and they made one batch of pads , which I bought ( about £10k's worth ) and were going to see the feedback on them before putting them into full production as they are being marketed as a track only pad they wanted to see if there was a market for them , not testing out the product , we have sold about half of the batch we had , so loads out there using them now , more so with the EVO guys.

There are only a handfull of people that have said they are not up to the job , but these are serious car abusers lol , everyone else loves them

There are quite a few members on here that have them fitted as well as the MLR

http://www.lancerregister.com/showthread.php?t=388655

I think you will find all pads are being developed and tweeked as better materials come along , nothing stays still for long

Cheers Ian

Me and yes they are awesome. I also have the blues in an identical classic and the Orange are far superior The blues are pretty redundant tbh, apart from being approved they have nothing to offer that the Oranges can't do better. Superior cold bite IMHO and awesome bite at speed. Couldn't be happier tbh.

I get your point about testing, but then I never paid for my Blues when I tested those so I don't feel too hard done by

I wouldn't mind a FOC set to test in my newage though

Hi Ian,

Thanks for the feedback, I wasnt too concerned and am certainly not disatissfied with the service you've provided me with. I'm just getting conflicting information from another supplier. No big deal I just wanted to clear it up and know for sure what I had.

I havent used them in anger on track yet but they are superb as a road pad and cold bite is astonishing. I'd recommend them to anyone even on a daily driver.

I can guess who the other dealer is , he was quite upset when they came out that they were all passed onto me to sell , and was trying to put a spanner in the works on the MLR until he was reigned in by the boss of EBC.

They are a very good pad at very sensible money , for your 8 pot K sports they are under half the price of other top end pads

Ian, are these available for the Ksport 356? If so, what price as I'm after a front set.

Oh I've just read the post above.

Do you have them available?

Excuse me for jumping in, but it begs the question, which is better for road use, blue or orange? Id be interested to know which you and Ian would "recommend", thanks

You would be wrong in your silly assumptions Ian, and I would rather not be dragged into this.

I haven't kept up to speed on the Orangestuff, but the last PUBLIC comment I saw was:

http://www.gtr.co.uk/forum/1541364-post125.html

The official line from EBC is:

"Orange is not for general release until spring 2012 and only a handful of test batches have been made so far to gain feedback”

I am sure once the Orangestuff is officially released it will be a welcomed addition to the EBC lineup and the price point is really very good for a track pad.

Bob,

You've dragged yourself into this!
You emailed me to ask if the other dealer was you I confirmed that it wasn't.

Up until your post nobody was pointing the finger in your direction so you've managed to do that yourself.

Ian has done nothing wrong and I am delighted with the service and products he has provided me with.

This is a prime example of where not posting anything would have been the more professional, sensible option.

Is it Bob that has posted above , as I understand it he has resigned from Aztec and no longer works there ??

http://www.ebcbrakes.com/automotive/...ds/index.shtml

Anyway the Orangestuff pads were tested by a handfull of people , then released in Oct 2011 as in the link above , the pads that were released were sold to me , what they were aiming at with them was a full on race pad to put up with any abuse , and that has not quite been the case , some high end users have found the limits on them , one of them being that guy on the GTR register , a few others on the MLR also have , but if you look at the specs of the cars , the HP , and how hard they are driving on the track , then its no surprise they have been having brake issue's , they are trashing most pads they are using.

We have had about 100 sets of Orangestuff pads so far , we are ordering more this week , so there is no problem with the availability of them.

As I have said , the Orangestuff pads have not reached the market they were aiming for , as a full race pad , but what EBC have produced is there best pads to date , they have very good bite from cold , and can put up with anything you throw at them on the road however hard you drive , and have proved themselves very capable on the track / sprints for probably 99% of people that have tried them.

Daz , I'll reply to your PM regarding the rears , we have Orangestuff rears in stock , but there is a bit more involved with the version 1-3 type R rear brakes

Cheers Ian

I'm fitting the front discs and orange pads I had off Ian on Saturday to my wrx. Ill be sure to provide feedback once their on and bedded in.

Bit worried about not being able to stand on the brakes for 300 miles though......

i fitted blues to my fronts last year after vouching never to use ebc again a few years ago and have found them a nice pad.

my rear end becomes a bit light under heavy braking so i was intending upgrading rear pads to blues (currently std pads). Would i be better off going for the oranges? ap`s up front, non-brembo two pot rears.

Change the rears to blues would be my advice.

Thanks daz, may i ask if you have tried the blues before and if so how do you feel the cold bite is in comparison to orange?

I was all set to order blues and can see reasoning behind having same all round but ive already tinkered with front disc size slightly so that would effect balance.

I have tried many different exotic pads over the last year in my Evo, namely:

Carbotech XP8 - excellent stopping power, noisy squealing and lots of dust couldn't live with
Carbotech XP10 - as above, awesome stopping power though
EBC Bluestuff NDX - not good enough for prolonged track abuse, first choice fast road pad
Ferodo DS3000 - bought these to replace blues, noisy and dusty again.
Pagid RS14 Black - probably the best, very expensive though £400 a set I think! Not noisy or too dusty.

Now currently got a set of Orangestuff in my JDM STi, haven't really hammered them in anger yet as Ian supplied discs about 300 miles ago, early impressions are good, no noise or excessive dusting. Cold bite is slightly worse than blues but not really that noticeable.

At the price point that they are, I doubt you will find better out there, these really are a bargain.

I will post more feedback when I have used them in anger!

Sorry nearly forgot what are the like for dust and what kind of metal content is in the orangestuff pads? The reason I ask is that I've had a set of wheels destroyed by track pads before.

Thanks for the chat yesterday Ian, I am looking forward to see how much better the Orangestuff are than the Bluestuff.

With new discs being fitted as well, it should stop like hitting a brick wall.
