17 or 18" alloys for my wrx bugeye?
Hello all,
I live in London and the roads are pretty crap. I have to say my current wrx wheels with 45 profile tyres do a good job of getting me around comfortably.
I do want to change the style of my wheels and have been looking at 18's and can see most people run these with 40 profile tyres.
My questions are:
Is there much difference in ride with 40 profiles on 18's?
Will 45 profiles fit with 18's?
I drive to work everyday and the roads are really poor! I dont want to turn my pleasurable drive to work into a annoying one for the sake of looks.
Cheers in advance for any insight, advice or sharing of your experience!

The standard wheels are 17 with 45 profile. I see loads of guys on here that have gone to 18's with 40 profile. Perhaps they dont care about the speed diff? Or like me, live in a place that has rubbish roads, so go to 40 profiles?

I'm trying to avoid the bumpy crashy ride, even on 45 profile tyres on 17's i have to avoid pot holes on the way to work. But, to be fair, some of the pot holes are more like craters than pot holes! lol
Does anyone know if you can fit 18's with 45 profiles on a bug? I'll make allowences for the different speeds when driving, but is it possible without rubbing/touching anywhere?
I'm planning on lowering the car with Eibach springs, by about 30/35mm

We are run before on lowering springs(Pi lowering springs 35mm with OE Shocks) 7.5Jx18 and 225/40 ZR18,comfort with this setup has been just OK...
Now we are running HSD HR coilovers with Hardrace lateral adjustable arms/links 245/40 ZR18 and 9.5JX18 ET38 ROTA Grid Drift and still think comfort is great,we are living in London and really driving via speed bumps is now all right or even on bad maintained roads is comfort just OK..

Brendy, your alloys look sweet! How much have you lowered the car by? What suspension kit are you running?

The profile shouldnt make a huge difference, the offset of the alloys will have the biggest baring I believe. My CHs are ET34 or so and do catch the arches ever so slightly on heavy bumps, I will be getting my rear arches rolled in a little to accommodate them. I love how far they sit out (not illegally so) and would rather have them this way than skinny rims tucked inside the arches too far like the standard rims.
