New wrx squealer !!!!
#1
My new 02 wrx import squeals it's brakes as i finally come to a halt. After some use it goes for "a time".
What would help? Some say copper grease????
The dealer who gave me the first service charged £120- is this a record? And he wasn't really interested in talking about squeals as mine is a belgium import.
So come on I have new wheels which I love... help me sort out the squealers!!!

Sim problem with my import, dealer "cleaned" the pads under warrenty, however, squeal returned 1 week later. Talking to other owners I have been told over time as the pads wear the squeal will settle. Damn annoying in the meantime!
As for first service price I paid about the same while a friend managed to get the same service for £70!

Pete at Scoobysport stocks it - call them up on 01268 590085 and ask for a litre of Quim Oil. Stocks were a bit low last time when I asked, but give it a go - it smells a bit nasty, but it worked for me

My MY02 brakes squeel too! first sevice was due last week and I asked for the pads to be copper greased, I don`t know if they did this but they still squeek.
As I am running the car in I have been easy on the brakes so I thought I would try some hard braking to see if this would help, it didn`t .... so it appears to be a problem with 2002 models.
Any other thoughts?.

Diesel,
you are a very bad man
I've got a set of squealers as well and oddly enough it gets worse going round right hand bends???????
I had a look at my pads and they were pretty filthy. Gave them a good wash, problem sorted.......for 20mins
Oh well, service coming up, I'll get the dealers to have a look.
Simon
Edited due to spelling incompetence!

I have an MY02 and it also has squealing brakes which are driving me crazy.
I imported from Cyprus through Gibsons of Brock.
They have stripped the brakes twice, but it still does it just as I come to a rest.
They said it's a "common fault". They don't do it as much in the wet. Gibsons said there used to be a groove in the old shape scooby pads, but not in the new ones. The dust hence doesn't have anywhere to go and so causes the squealing. Not sure if they were telling porkies or not though...
I've done 2,500 miles and it's still there.
Only way to cure is a long journey, or warming the brakes up for a while with left foot on brake..!!
I've just about given up on getting them fixed, but will be asking the garage, yet again, to do something when it goes in for synchro replacement on 5th gear next week. (car is 6 weeks old..not impressed)

I spoke to the local main agent today with regard to the squeeling brakes, I asked if he had copper greased them as I had requested..I didn`t get a direct reply! only to be told that there are half a dozen or so pads reccomended for this model and he wasn`t sure which he should fit?. Perhaps the time has come to approach Subaru UK or whoever, jointly, and insist this problem be resolved, the local dealer should be informed of their findings and the correct pads to irradicate this problem be replaced under warranty. I welcome any comments chaps.

I brought this up a couple of months ago and raised an issue with Subaru HQ.
The last I spoke to them they had contacted Brembo and asked them to look into it.
My dealer has reduced the squeal on mine by filing two pits found on the end of each brake pad.
