Hello, I am going to attemp to change the rear disks and pads on my car next week.
When I did the front I just whacked the disk off after taking the caliper, Will that be the same for the back or what wlse will I have to do because of the handbrake. Any picture or advice would be greatful.
Thanks Claire

As long as the rubber bung is in place then it shouldn't be too hard to do.
One of the bungs was missing on my car and I had to cut the disk with an angle grinder to get it off, then replace the shoes and all the springs and pins etc inside the drum.
The springs and bits are only available from Subaru and cost a lot for what they are, and it's an fiddly job.
But if you get the discs off ok then just a check that there is still a good amount of 'pad' on the shoes should be all you need to do.

If you're lucky they should just slide off (make sure the handbrake is released!!) If not back the adjuster off a tad. Its through the oval hole on the backplate. I can never remember which way to turn it though
Whatever you do DON'T whack em off as you'll damage the handbrake mechanism!
