V Rated Tyres
Hi,
I need some advice please.
I'm looking to put a set of winter tyres on my Sti. Most of them seem to be V rated i.e up to 149 Mph. My currect summer tyres are W rated (168mph).
It probably a silly question but can I assume that as long as I don't go over 149mph (which I'm never going to do) the V rated tyres will be fine on my car.
I'm assuming its the rotational forces above the speed rating that are the factor not the bhp/torque that a car capable of > 149mph puts through the tyres ?
Cheers, Ian.

The speed ratings are based on running the tires at those speeds for a sustained period of time.
In the UK there are not many places where one can sustain 130mph for any length of time, let alone 149mph. So from a safety standpoint either will do.
Depends how much cost V,but you will be OK too with H rated tyres and are cheaper too
