Default Refurbishing callipers? hard to do?

I will be renewing the front brakes on my golf in the coming weeks, and seeing as the car is off of the road for a while, I thought it might be a good idea to refurb the callipers that are there.

I intend on cleaning them up giving them a new paint job, and renewing the seals. Do I need any special tools to remove or replace the seals with, or for that matter anything else that needs to be done to them.

If anyone had any links to a how to guide, that would be great also.

Thanks.
