Thumbs up STI Brakes

Guys

Are these brakes a straight swop for my underpowered rubbish in the 2004 WRX?

http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/Impreza-ST...item2a12be9a3a

And is that price about right? Or can I do better elsewhere?

Thanks again you helpful people you!

the second link should be exactly what you have now.............

as for the first Brembo link then the fronts fit straight on presuming you have wheels to clear the bulk of the STi caliper (WRX wheels dont fit), the rear brakes need a conversion kit to work.....

Well I would look at a different kit, those look a bit battered, they will probably need a refurb if you want them to look good (add a couple of hundred quid there), new pads and the discs look worn (another couple of hundred quid there), you dont really need to replace your rear calipers, just upgrade the pads and discs, go for something like Ian Godney's AP 4 pots (around the same price but new), save you some money there

Keep an eye out just for the callipers and fit some suitable discs and pads.

Do the fronts, minimal benefit from doing the rears, your 2 pots on the rear are already pretty decent.

Is £600 for 2004 STI fronts and rears with discs and pads a good deal; discs and pads are used...?

If I just get the fronts then I'll need to paint my rear calipers to match!

How hard is it to drill the STI discs to the correct wrx fitment??

Your car is 100PCD and any STi brakes up to 2005 are also 100PCD.

Depends on how "used" the discs are and if the pads are the ones that you want to use. No point upgrading to Brembos and just using any old pads that come with them as it will be the pad choice that defines how good they will be.

Decent fast road discs and pads can be had for as little as £129 (complete from set) if you shop in the right place

See now your just teasing me.....356mm!!
Wow..£910.......maybe a little overkill for the 350bhp I want though? Maybe?

So to be clear, STI brakes from a 2004 car will fit straight onto my hubs but the wheels wont fit?

I seem to be getting different info from the guy selling them.....he said I'd need to get the discs drilled.....

only 2005MY and newer STi's have the larger 114.3x5PCD...............

would have to disagree with doing the rears as you can get a massive benefit from uprated rears as the majority of Subaru's are under-braked on the rear as std..........

2005 sti come with 114 but You can find 2004 late reg sti with pcd114
You need brembo calipers and wheels with correct offset to fit them.
Think a little and compare
front used calipers 320 , wheels-sell wrx buy sti add 150 or more, =470 plus pads and discs
ksport kit 330mm brand new will cost close to 800 and fit wrx wheels(i think
brand new against used, for example refurb if You will unlucky will cost You 200
my is 265bhp with 356mm and still i wish have better brakes
dont forget tyres do job to
aztec has right -dont buy used discs and pads

late regd 2004 STi with 114.3x5 spec is NOT a 2004model car but an early 2005 model as they are always released in the latter part of the previous year....................
