Michelin Pilot Sport 17" Tyres
#2
Unless you would like to add more understeer to the car not really.
They are an improvement on the standard Bridgestones that come with the car from new but most popular tyres tend to be:
- Toyo TS1
- Goodyear F1 (the older GS-D2 is discontinued/in short supply and is being replaced by GS-D3)
- Bridgestone SO3
If look through previous threads there should be plenty of info on these tyres and it should be possible to get them at the same or a better price than the Michelins.

funny this....i need a couple of 16" tyres and i spoke to 2 people yesterday.
one really rated the pilot sports and said toyos are not much good for a scoob type of car.....liked by the max power brigade who got from standard skinny tyres on a nova etc to larger wheels and tyres!
the other would not recommend anything but SO3's cos that wot subaru themselves recommend.

A guy I know had a full set of Michelins fitted to his MY01. Not his first choice but as his old ones were in a dangerous condition, and he couldn't get any others at the time he had to have them.
Cr@p tyres...he was complaining from day 1 that they were **** and didn't grip at all.
Anyway, after a few weeks on these tyres he ended up with nearly 2 grands worth of damage to his scoob, and he blames it on the tyres!
He can't prove it was the tyres, but lost it on a bend he's taken many times before at the same speed / conditions with his Bridgstones with no bother.
IMHO I recommend Toyo Proxes T1-S

I have the Pilot Sports on the front of my MY01 and in the dry they are quite good but in the wet they do not inspire a great deal of confidence in 'normal' driving.
Wet roundabouts taken at moderate speed do induce noticeable understeer, so what these tyres are like when driven hard/on the limit I have no intention of finding out.
The only upside I can find is that I have managed to loose only 1mm of tread over 2000 miles with the tyres on the front (not the hardest driver in the world on tyres).
