Default wheel size question

currently my bug sti is standard wheel and suspension wise but looking to start the upgrades soon my question is what size wheels do people feel work the best on our cars 17`s or 18`s ?

anyone wanting to chip some advice in is welcome

do 18`s make the car feel harsh on the road ?

On the road stick with std. if ride quality is important.

Most go for 18" wheels and go to a 40 profile tyre, this is slightly more harsh and improves steering feel.

I have 19" OZ's on R888's with a 35 profile which everyone else will tell you is rubbish.

Only crucial to go bigger if you need to clear bigger brakes, I went for 330mm AP six pots for mine.

HTH

Ride quality not that important as my scoob is weekend toy

fancy 18`s just for the look of them and stance but was wondering what adverse effects they have over 17`s

Reducing the height of the side-wall will make the car slightly harsher over bumps/ridges, but will sharpen up the turn-in/steering "feel".

Adding weight is always bad for handling. The upside is the option of going wider, to maximise grip ( I run 235's ) and I can't unstick the car even with 400+ bhp.

All IMHO.

P.S. Tyres MAY be more expensive, mine are ridiculously costly, but can't fault them for grip.
