Does anyone know if Speedline Chrono wheels will clear a subaru 4 pot caliper ??
Cheers, Matt.
Forgot to say; If it does (which it probably will) would it still clear with a bigger disc because the spokes start to taper in and there does'nt look like there would be a great deal of room!

When I looked into buying some I was told that the Speedline Chromos from speedline will fit over 4pots but the original Speedlines put on Scoobies by Prodrive won't and are a slight variation on the Chromo...
I suspect Speedline changed the Chromo to fit when 4pots went on the scooby?
Cannot answer your other question though..
I still want a set myself but having to be a cheap skate..
they are the best looking wheel for the car IMHO.

Matt,
I had early "Prodrive" Speedline Chronos on my car and 4 pots would not fit without using a spacer.
The ones fitted to the RB5 are a slightly different design and obviously do fit.
I know the Chronos I had were ET55 so possibly you can tell by that.
Thanks
Gavin

Cheers JGM,
So If i have proper speedline chronos (not chromos ) then they should fit but if they're prodrive supplied they wont! Unless they're an updated version to fit the four pot. If i could remember how to do a confused face i'd put one here....
Does anybody have these wheels over 4 pots ? ? ? Or a big disc conversion ?
Cheers, Matt.
Oops, Cheers Gavin....Yeah i suspected the same thing with the RB Wheel cos there very similar but instead of the alloy spoke tapering in it runs straight and then cuts in at the edge of the rim! I think they are prodrive ones and i have seen ET55 on them.
Don't want spacers tho.
Thanks again.

That was all the knowledge I picked up from here when I nearly bought some..
perhaps you could ask a supplier and if they say they will fit make sure they will take them back again if they don't fit..
I don't think the spacer would have to be very big to get over them.... you might be able to machine the back of the wheels too?

Not a chance of the spacer or machining the wheels!
I've been assured that a certain 4 pot caliper will fit under this wheel but i'm not at all convinced it will.
If they dont i'll just have the money back

Already got the wheels mate, Silver.......Light Red car.

We shall see !

Hi Matt,
I have Speedline Chronos/Prodrive superturismo wheels. The only difference between the two is the centre cap badge, one says Prodrive, the other Speedline. They are both ET55mm. Both will not fit the Subaru 4 pot (as i've been told by Speedline), the only big brake kits that i've heard of fitting are the Scoobysport Brembo/Ap (which they list on their price list sepeartely for the superturismo), the Tarox kits (race calipers so no dust seal etc so i wouldn't go for them) and The Godspeed kit. I printed out the AP 4/6pot calip[er profile and you would need at least a 7mm spacer to make them fit (i.e changing the ET55 to Et48mm). What is the kit you've been told about?
Tony.

The Speedline Chrono (we call it Supertourismo) will not fit the 4 pots in ET55 as we supplied it for Impreza. It will fit in ET48 as we supplied for Forester.
The RB5 wheel which looks similar will fit the 4 pots of course as the car has them as std.

Mike - I am having exactly the same problem on my MY97 as i have aquired a brand new set of discs and pads from the P1 (my mate uprated again to the prodrive ones i think) but the speedlines need about 1/8 - 1/4 inch spacer + longer studs, is this recommended and where would you recommend sourcing them (eg does it put more stress on the studs etc) or would you change the wheels?

Thanks Fellas.
Tony,
The Kit is the godspeed one. Its a 325mm disc and his caliper. Have spoken to ian and he is aware of the problem with clearence on this wheel and is going to put a greater offset on the bell. Although this will put us seriously close to the track rod end!
It should all fit nice
Mike thanks,
So whats the score with the two offsets. Can you put the ET48 (forester wheel) on the impreza or does it upset things??
Or just stick out from inside the arches!
Cheers everyone, Matt.

Speedline Chronos 1's require a 7mm spacer to clear the Brembo/AP kit, 17s or 16s.
I know this 'coz ScoobySport had to make some when I had the AP discs/bells fitted

Doc,
I spoke to Scoobysport ages ago and they said their Brembo/AP kit would fit without spacers. They list two kits on the pricelist (both the same price) and one will fit one won't. The one that fits was specifically done to fit behind the Superturismos. Am i bein' miss informed?
Anyway, how do you find the handling etc? Did you also put longer wheel studs in, and have your wheel bearings been ok?
Cheers,
Tony.

A new set of wheels cost a hell of a lot more than 4 spacers!!!!! The problem i've got is that i really like the look of the superturismo, that's why i bought them. I think i've made my mind up that when i do get a big brake kit it will be a Godspeed one tho.
Im still not convinince that spacers are such a big no no anyway. If a 7mm spacer is fitted it reduces the offset to 48mm which is acceptable for a scooby. The only negative points seem to be you need longer wheel studs and it might put a bit more load on the wheel bearing compared to a ET55mm wheel, but will it put more load than an ET48mm wheel????? Considering i've not got plans to do track days i don't think that it's such a problem.
Maybe im wrong tho, usually i am

Ok then,
So the scoobysport brembo/AP does'nt go on without spacers and the tarox race calipers are'nt an option for a road car (no dust seals) and i hate to dissapoint you tony but the godspeed kit does'nt fit either !
Yet It appears that this is the first Chrono Ian has tried to get a big disc conversion behind. (4 pots and 325mm disc) He is just making the final alterations to the kit before it goes on
Will we be the first to get a 4 pot and big disc behind this wheel without the aid of spacers and machining the alloy ??
Matt.

No it wouldn't , otherwise running bigger offset wheels would be , if you have wheels with an offset of 55 , and run a 7mm spacer , it is the same as running a wheel with a offset of 48 , the only reason it would cause problems is either the wheels not sitting right with a poor quality spacer , or running out of threads , Ian

Hi Ian,
That was my thougth on the matter, i only really envisaged problems with using large spacers (15-20mm) which would put the wheel offset very low and could cause excessive load on the wheel bearing. I don't suppose you do spacers do you??? If you do, or if you know where to get hold of them, what sort of price would 4 7mm spacers be with appropriate longer studs?
Cheers,
Tony.

Hi Ian I have ordered the 4 pot kit from you and specified that I had the speedline chrono wheel as well as the others on this thread, will you be doing the kit with the offset mentioned for me aswell, its just I dont want to be dissapointed when it comes due to it not fitting.
Cheers Roy
