Default Which would be best, please?

Along the same lines as a recent thread, (didn't want to high jack it).

AP 4pots with 308mm discs or Alcon 4 Pots with 330mm discs?

Used mainly on the road but with track days also in mind.

Cheers
Andy

depends which caliper your utilizing and also the fact that the 308mm will allow various 16" wheels to fit and the 330 will only fit 17" wheels??

also the 308mm discs can be "relatively" expensive but having said that if the Alcon kit is the Prodrive version and still has its solid discs then a massive expense - 2pce options are available

Thanks for the response.

The Alcons (A used set) are the prodrive versions and have nearly new 2 peice discs and pads with them. The AP's would have to be new (unless I can find a used set)

I am asking as I really would like to keep my 16" wheels and was wondering if the AP 308mm coupled with a 2pot rear conversion on a MY99 Wagon would give a significant and fade free improvement over stock.

(My brakes faded quite badly at Castle Combe last weekend)

Or would the added expense of the Alcons needing new wheels & tyres be worth it in the end?

Thanks again
Andy

With braking , bigger is better , I would go for the Alcon 330mm kit , they are a very similar sized caliper and pad to the AP , but the disc size would put them ahead.

I make a 2 piece disc and bell for this setup , so don't be scared off by the dealer prices on discs for them

Cheers Ian

Go with the APs if you're keeping the 16"s. IIRC 304mm was a more common size?

They'll work great both on road and track with the right pads.

Ahh missed the 16" wheel bit , if its a 308mm kit it will be one of my kits , if its 304mm then its an AP disc , this will be the largest you can fit under 16's
