P1 17" tyres where & what type to buy ?
#1
Hello.
I need a new set of front and rear tyres on my P1 with 17" wheels.
What's the best price / performance choice available & where should I go to get them ?
Many thanks.

Z80,
Give Micheldever tyres a call on 01962 774437 they will do the
P zero 205/45/17 for £94.52 each fitted & balanced inc VAT
However, i've just repaced all 4 tyres on my P1 with Bridgestone S0-3's 215/40/17 at £110.97 each fitted & balanced inc VAT
These seem to have made a big improvement to the handling of the P1 especially after having all the tracking setup properly by Micheldever tyres.
Hope this helps.
Cheers,
Rob

I think Rob's covered the main points
Other option are Toyo T1S (usually cheaper), Goodyear F1's or the Bridgestones. All in 215/40/17 or P zero's in 205/45/17 though most people rate the other 3 as better tyres.
215/40 and 205/45 are very simalar in size so won't rub
I (and most others on here) wouldn't recomend anything other than these. Tyres are the only contact between you/the car and the road.
You can spend loads on handling upgrades but if the tyres are cr@p your throwing money away.
Prices varry from £100 to £160ish each depending on the tyre and who's supplying them. Spend a couple of hours ringing round and take what the tyre dealer says with a Large pinch of salt.
A tyre dealer recomended Avons and was really pushing me into them, but I've read the posts on here and knew to stear well clear!!!!!!

Simon,
If it's any help, i'm going to go for some Toyos when the P-zeros wear out. Must say i've not been particularly impressed with the zeros especially in the wet. I've tried S-02's which are great but when I traded in my old MY97 for the P1, tyres had done 5,000 miles and outside edges were very worn!
Cheers
Steve.

Just a word of warning about Micheldever tyres. They managed to cross two threads on different wheels and ruin my locking wheel nuts. I also had a slow puncture just a couple of weeks after having the new tyres fitted. It was traced to a dodgy valve. The people who fixed it thought it looked like an old one!
Not a good experience with them at all.
