still no good after changing to ebc bluestuff!

Default still no good after changing to ebc bluestuff!

Hello everyone,after purchasing my 03 sti a couple of months ago i knew the front and rear pads were in desperate need of changing,so i decided on the ebc bluestuff after a bit of advice from god speed brakes,but after the bedding in progress the braking is better but still no where near as good as it should be,now the car has only done 25k on the clock and has been stored for along period of time so im now thinking the discs could be buggered aswell as they were really rusted due to it been stood,now though they look ok to look at no rust or signs of wear,they just only seem to brake you to a point then no more no matter how hard you press the pedal,any advice taken on board cheers.

what state si the fluid in?? could be as simple as it needs a flush thro..........

Are you getting the brakes hot enought to work properly, ie repeated use not just a one off stand on them from cold? Performance brakes are designed to work in certain temperature windows, and may not work well until heat has built up in them.

Yeah ive been warming them up,just seems the same gunna change the discs,hoses,fluid see if it makes a difference,been out today and they are quite bad just no bite at all.cheers

Spray water on the brake disc and also the area between the pads and the disc to flush out all the dust and dirt. Make sure the brakes are cold before (if) you decide to do this. Worth a try.

Servo or vacuum pipe problem? Does the pedal feel very solid?

yes it does mate,pedal goes down so far then just seems to hit a wall,and if you press to hard you can feel the abs,are these too jobs big to change,ie exspensive?thanks

EBC Blues were disappointing on my newage until I'd done about 300ish miles and a trackday, they're great now When I had them fitted to my classic they were awesome out the box ? Only difference in set up is the ABS in the newage. Fully pressed they stop like buggery but initially they were poor at scrubbing speed on normal driving with just a moderate peddle I changed two lots of RB600 Motul fluid made no difference until they were well scrubbed. They cool very easily and reward the more agressive breaker rather than someone who cruises daily and matches speed and gears rather than being on the breaks the whole time.

im really happy with the blue stuff, 3 whole track days, and there still going strong, lots of life left in them. get a fluid change, and maybe the discs. the previous owner fitted some really cheap pads and discs to the car, and they were dangerously rubbish at stopping the car.

Tbh pal i dont think theres nothing wrong with the pads theyve been on for around 5to6 hundred mile so would of said they should be bedded in etc by now,just had other cars like civic type r,s well modded upto 300hp and the brakes were fantastic just with aftermarket pads plus half decent discs,i know the subaru is completly different in regards to weight an stuff,but at the minute if i had to stop fast i dont think it would happen,can anyone recommend some disks to me, got the pads from godspeed brakes,and he was sound on the advice so was thinking of giving him a ring back seemed a decent chap.

do a fluid change as it costs very little in parts if your doing it yourself, and as your using Ian @ Godspeed i would invest in some of their own grooved discs also as this will make a difference from std discs,

as mentioned, grab some new fluid, and hoses and discs, made a huge difference to my brake upgrade.

i had a civic type R too, i run completely stock pads and discs from honda, and i was amazed how good they was, i was running around 240bhp, and loved it. compared to that, im quite dissapointed with the brembos, they havent blown me away like i was expecting.

Good to hear it, and that's with our OEM spec discs.

Not everyone needs to go for a one size fits all grooved disc, which is why we have no less than 6 front disc options on that one car alone to suit different requirements and budgets.

Plenty of options is always good but people on a budget cant really go wrong with Ians grooved discs.
