Default Knockback springs on road car

Hi, picked up a set of aps and am going to give them a fresh lick of paint. In preperation i stripped them down and found knockback springs installed behind the pistons. I understand these push pads against disc so pedal has no travel to take up slack, though they didnt seem like they would apply a lot of force. Now my car is for road use and is not driven like its on track the vast majority of the time, so i thought it might be better to miss them out on reassembly as it would just add drag/wear out components quicker etc. Just wondering if im correct in doing away with them or not, opinions please. Thanks.
