Default Rubbing/Binding noise from rear - Brakes?

Got a rubbing/binding noise from the rear. Only seems to appear when car is cold and brakes haven't been used much or if handbrake has been on a while. At a recent service I mentioned it so they would have a quick look. The report back was that the rear disc was showing signs of slight corrosion which could cause the noise but had plenty of life in it if I could live with the noise. To be fair the noise was only slight but in the recent snow/cold snap it appears to be getting a bit louder. It also initially seemed to be coming from the offside rear but now seems to be both
Do you think that this is the likely cause or could it be something else either brake related or other although I would have thought they would have checked things like the wheel bearings etc. Car is a 07 Hawkeye WRX

Might be a wheel bearing, they can make all sorts of funny noise. When I had noise at the back of my 03STi Scoobyclinic just put it on a hoist started it and put it in gear then went round with a stethoscope which identified NSR wheel bearing.

most likely corrosion inside the rear drum handbrake area............needs stripped and cleaned to sort, easy fix generally

Thanks for the replies guys. Will prob start with the rear handbrake drums.

The noise is erratic though and generally only occurs in the colder weather.
