UNEVEN REAR DISC WEAR
Just notice that the rear disc are not wearing evenly on both sides, It is wearing in the centre of the dics about 30mm and the rear is rusting, Not i know they should be likr the fronts all nice and shiney, so what could be causing this ?
They shouldnt look as the fronts mate as they are only doing about 35%of the braking so only really see hard pad contact under heavy braking but as mentioned i would think you've got a seized piston,i seem to remember you saying on another thread that your car gets parked up alot through the week?

i was looking at other cars today with rear discs and they looked nice and shiny with no uneven wear, so looks like a piston on both side lol

Regulary used cars will have even pad/disc wear and the same looking disc's front to back but ones that are used on wkends or less almost always have manky looking rears disc's.

When I installed the new ones I made sure the fit was snug and NOT tight as before, plus of course added plenty of copper slip!
They are much quieter now too

Having just stripped and replaced my rear brakes, the pads were jammed in the caliper at the top and bottom, no way they could bite evenly

My 03 STi was the same and it wasn't a stuck piston. Have you looked at the back of the disc? Also, the fronts on mine were ok on the outer surface of the disc but the inner face was corroded for 50% of the surface! The main reason was lack of use which allowed a gradual build-up of rust which finally wore away the pad into a step in the surface.
Got a feeling it's new brakes all round for you!

That is defo just lack of use Neil and ive seen it on countless occasions mate in my garage,im afraid the only option is new discs and pads there mate,also id take the slides apart and give them a good clean and regrease as there probably getting dry and sticking slightly again from lack of use.
Check what the piston on the calipers go's back in like to and if needs be work it in and out a few times after picking up the dust cover and spraying some wd in there

looks more like sticky/partly seized calipers or pads jammed in the sliders........
even with occassional use your discs should never look like that unless there is a problem of some sort

This was mine and the pads were totally stuck top and bottom, had to hammer them out of the caliper:

Well had a look today and the pads were rock solid i could not move them at all, plenty WD40 and i managed to get them out eventually, the piston work fine so no prooblems there at all
So took everything to bits and cleaned it all up with copper slip added and they are good as new now, will give the discs time to bed back in and see how they look, if they are screwed like prodriver said new disc and pads for her

Alright Neil id defo be looking at some new pads and discs in the near future mate,the lip on the disc is a indicator that the disc is wearing down so id run till the pads have worn down low[if not already]and change the lot out mate.
Also although the pad was stuck in the jaw it has clearly been moving abit under the hydraulic power of the brakes as the hole disc would be rusty[like ones above] with no contact with the pad,you'd find that it would have moved forward if the disc wasnt in the way but not back out.

thanks for that, the pads look near new fella just not fitted right ie copper slip etc or cleaned up etc, the discs have started to clear a little but like you have said new disc and pads in the near fucture,
