HEL Brake - Lines

HEL Brake - Lines
Hello,
I'm from Slovenia and I ordered HEL brake lines for my Impreza Sti on this page - http://www.brake-lines.co.uk/. It's written that order should be dispached within 2-4 days and that I will get tracking number. But after 9 days I still didn't get anything. I have send them three emails but no reply at all from their side and I even try to call them on their phone number - International: +44 (0) 800 0124 101 but I can't get the line through. Does someone have any experience buying anything from them or if someone knows if they are serious at all?
Thanks and best regards,
Peter

Hi
I can't help you with the company you are dealing with , but I can tell you Hel have been unable to supply these hoses for the last month as they have been waiting for fitting to make them , we have managed to get 4 kits out of them yesterday as they did get a small amount of fittings to make some kits up
This may be the reason you have not received them , can't say why your not getting any replies from them though
Cheers Ian

Thanks for the info Ian. They could at least reply to me and explain the situation but it's also strange that I can't reach them on the phone. I will wait for couple of days and than I will claim my money back from the bank.
Ian, can I contact you regarding HEL brake lines in case I can not get them from mentioned site?

It seems a lot of the HEL resellers don't stock items but order them when they are needed.
If you get stuck, we have them on the shelf ready for same day dispatch.

Yes and some of us order 50 kits at a time and then reorder when you have say 5 left , still doesn't change the fact the Hel haven't been able to supply any for the last month.
As we do these at an UNBEATABLE price , we sell a lot of them
We have been promised them next week for anyone looking to order from us can do so then.
They will still be £55 for a hose kit and a litre of Dot 5.1 fluid
Cheers Ian

Will save you from spending even more though, there is no clutch line from HEL and not something needed.

Must admit I wasn't too happy with HEL when I wanted a set.
I live locally to them and emailed them asking if they had them in stock for counter service as I was having my fluid done that week and would have been nice to stick them on.
Got an email back a few days later saying no need to ask if they are in stock just turn up and we'll make them there for you.
So I turn up day before the service is due as I'm working not far from them that day, only to be told they don't actually having the fittings in for the Impreza at the moment.
So was a little peeved off after mailing them for this specific reason, would have taken them 2 mins to tell me in the email
As it was too late I couldn't even pickup any Goodridge lines in time so have left it for now
Still want to get some, will leave it a while though.

They told me they have them in stock now and we had our delivery sent out friday and we will have them delivered on tuesday
I'll agree that they could be more helpful and organised ! they have strung me along for about a month now , and me passing on the info to my customers that just makes me look like a **** when they dont arrive again and again
Hopefully they will stick to there word and they will be delivered tuesday
Cheers Ian

In my opinion the HEL kits are better quality , all stainless steel fittings as standard so nothing goes rusty , all new stainless banjo bolts , and plastic covered hoses , I have used the goodrich ones before these , and I don't think they are as good.
Up to now I have not had any problems getting delivery of the hel kits , and hopefully it won't happen again

you obviously used the std plated kits, the optional FULL s/steel kits are far better than anything on the market IMO and wholly UK designed, sourced and manufactured
they also come complete with the correct line locators and also have a plastic covered braided line (various optional colours also, full warranty (if required)

Yes but it is an option that costs more , the HEL lines are full stainless as standard not an extra cost optiion , and costs a lot less.
They are also made in the UK , I used to sell the Goodrich line until I tried the HEL kits , now I will only offer the HEL kits as I think they are better.
Cheers Ian

no worries, thats what makes the world go around, honest debate and everyone having their own opinion , but you wont change my opinion of Goodridge having been involved with them for 15yrs or so and trying most of the others over the years...........
just to clarify, the HEL kits are made up in the UK but NOT manufactured in the UK
and like all things if you know where to go the Goodridge can be similiar if not cheaper anyhows

I own a subaru impreza turbo MY00. I currently have the front and the rear gold brembo calipers from an STI 01+.
What brake lines should I order that will fit my car?
These

or these

thanks!

You need the kit to fit your year car , the only difference in the kits is how the front lines fit onto the strut , an early car has clips to hold them in place , the later cars are bolted on.
The length of pipes and the fittings on them are the same for all model Impreza's
If you want to order a kit I can supply you a HEL braided hose kit AND a litre of Dot 5.1 high performance fluid for £55
Cheers Ian

It's also funny how HEL and Goodridge are based only about 10 miles from each other
Although I don't know if Goodridge do any kind of direct selling, i.e. could I just pop up there and get a set?
Goodridge are decent no doubt about it, just that for an equivilent set of hoses, for a road car at least, you'll pay extra to get all the stainless fitings, when they come as standard on the HEL kits.
I've only ever bought lines for 1 car, and I had a set of goodridge with the stainless fittings, but for the Impreza I'm tempted to try HEL out at around £30 cheaper.
