Track day tyre thats road legal
I am after the best road legal trackday tyre for my impreza classic . My wheel size is 16 inch 7j +53. Was looking at the A048`S but they dont seem to do the right size.

Thanks, the tyre size im after are either 16/50/205 or 16/ 45/215. The 888`s and A048`s seem to only come in 225 fitment which i think will be to wide? Would 195/50R16`s be to narrow?

yoko neova AD08's .... f....Awesome 440 delivered from Ears motorsport (for 225/45/17) but they do them in different sizes

Bridgestone RE070's, they will pass the new law thats coming out, very good dry/wet tyre, interesting on the greasy stuff, the hotter they get, the better they get, they dont go "off" as other road tyres do, a really good tyre for the money

REO70 is sti tyre 225/45/17
its TT time here in IOM and the mountain part of the course is one way with no speed limit
ive had my car doing 143mph and had no wheelspin, no under or over steer, they get hot and they tyre surface srubs like a race tyre.
i run 28psi all round when hot... i did set them to this when cold and they shot up to 33psi hence now i set them when hot.

Got to say I have been really impressed with the re 070s.
Perfect for road and track imo. Not used them in the wet but in the dry they are excellent.

Just need 2 sets of wheels then, and electric impact wrench to save time. I have an unregistered kit car on a trailer so it doesn't affect me.
May be difficult to administer as they will have to define when there are enough grooves in a particular design. Even in the wet I'd guess 888s are better than some cheapo tyres.

i am not 100% sure but I dont think they can ban a tyre that has DOT approval, the wording has changed on the rally gravel tyres from "NOT FOR ROAD USE" to "COMPETITION USE ONLY" as even the WRC cars need to use public road sections between stages.. As I understand it from asking those who have been competing for awhile it comes down to insurance and you are only covered while in a competition, not sure how that would translate to a trackday etc.. but maybe it would need stating as a mod to your insurance company. If they are happy and the tyre has DOT approval then I dont see a problem..
Althought sods law states you will come up against that one Plod who knows better..
I have taken out road section cover for my car which also covers 'testing' just to be on the safe side.
