Default Wheel confusion!

Hello everyone. I'm in a bit of a confused state, I have a set of 16" MIM speedline alloy wheels, and the info reads on the back 16x7J ET50 and I want to fit them over the subaru 4pots and 294 discs, rear 2pots and 290mm discs, would they fit ok? I've had some sterling advice from a fellow member telling me I would need some 5mm hubcentric spacers, but I keep getting told they will fit fine without them. I don't quite know what to do now, so I thought I'd ask. Oh and If I did need the 5mm spacers would it be safe for the car etc, etc, and would I need to change the bolts?

Cheers people

Its not only the offset that determines if they will clear the caliper but the spoke design as well, your probably best off just trying them on and then you`ll know for sure.
