Default what tyres to get?????

i need four 215/40/17 tyres for my new wheels, thinkin about getting either ...

toyo t1r £284
yokohama paradas £276
federal ss595 £177
maxxis maz1 £224

has anyone used any of these? if so what are they like and how long do they last? i had some yokos years ago on my xr2i, gripped well but only lasted about 3 months which i dont want. ive had dunlop sports on and they last about 1 year+ which im quite happy getting once a year or so. before that i had cheaper kumho exstas which lasted about the same. read somewhere on here that federals are good for the price?

i want grip but i want tyres that last. . . . any suggestions/ recomendations?

also getting wheels refurbed... thinking of getting them sprayed instead of powder coated, its about the same price for either choice but is spraying them it just as good a finish and does it last?

I found T1R a bit soft for a heavy bug-eye.... Yoko's last o.k., but a soft-ish compound which was very gripy....

IMHO

thanks dunx. was reading a thread the other night and a few people said toyos arnt that brilliant and vredestiens are better, they cost a lot more though dont they. i dont have that much to spend with getting wheels painted aswel. i dont drive too fast round bends but dont want to get caught out with loss of grip if i do.

KojaK just got Falkens at Gordons Tyres ( j40 M1 ? ? )

He rates them above Toyos.

falkens are good for all round tyre use

paradas are very grippy but soft as are the t1rs

maxxis are ok but not widely used

thanks for all your replies. after lots of thinking and looking at tyre reviews i ended up getting a set of falken 452's from camskill for £260. tread pattern looks great. havnt tested them yet as they were supposed to be put on last weekend but new wheels hadnt been painted. should have them on this weekend.

My Federal ss595 are doing a decent job at the moment which included a snow covered motorway trip in Northern Japan after taking my snow tyres off far too early in the season :-(
