Default Brake Failure at Trackday

Hi folks, im a newbie here.

Need some advice on a brake upgrade.

Was at knockhill today, coming upto a corner went on the brakes and nothing. The pedal went right to the floor !!!!

Got back to the pits and on inspection i was missing a rear pad!!!
(I thought these things shouldnt just fall out)

Anyways, cars totally standard but plan on doing a few mods and using it for track days.

Any advice on brakes guys, Not big budget thou - about £500

Cheers

Ryan

if i were you i would fit braided hoses all round, fluid change , and a good set of pads all round either performance friction or ferrodo DS2500 and get the rear brake problem sorted out, that lot should cost you no more than £400.00 i would of thought.

Let me know what model and year you have , I would guess at a classic as all the later cars have pins holding the pads in place so would never fall out , if you wear the rears right down there would be a chance of the back plate coming out

Thanks for the advice guys.

Ian Its a UK 2000 model impreza turbo. At the moment it has drilled and groved discs on, I think its the EBC discs. I've only bought the car so dont know to much about them.
The discs on the back are solid, I was thinking they should be Vented and thats how the pad fell out (Fingers crossed).

yep should certainly be vented on a UK 00 car.........as you thought, this would allow the pads to move far too much and cause the issue you had

Thanks Alyn, I'm glad thats confirmed. Was starting to think I've bought a pig. Already changed the Clutch, Flywheel, CV Joint and only had the car 4 wks.

Thanks again for the info
