Question

I'd be interested in hearing other users wear rates on S02 Bridgestones. I fitted a set 4000 miles ago, always ran at 34psi, now the inner and outer shoulders are showing significant wear on the fronts. My first set of original Bridgestones (1998 year - R010's?) reached 15000 miles with pretty even wear.

Someone suggested the compound is pretty soft, but I am surprised at the rate of wear. Any comments?

Cheers,
David.

My SO2's were also wearing on both shoulders at the front, from some other posts this seems to be a 'feature' not helped by certain front end geometries.
I ended up swapping them front to back to help the life. Not ideal I know but after only getting 8500 miles from the original RE010's I needed to help things along a bit.
The SO2's are now at 11500 miles and at a recent service were measured at 5mm left in the middle and 3mm on both inner and outer edges all round. Dealer told me I was running too low a pressure causing uneven wear but when I checked they had reset my 34 psi all round (checked regularly) down to 30 / 28 !!!.

IMHO
SO2's are a bit soft, never had em on a scoob

Work had a Volvo C70GT (250BHP) fwd with em on
used to get around 15K out of the fronts

took a while to rum em in, the release 'compound' used in the manufacture took around 400m to wear off, they felt a bit 'slippy' till then

grip was good mind

Hope the technical jargon is ok

SO2's fitted after 17K on the OE RE010's and no sign of shoulder wear, after 10K miles.

Wear seems to be slightly better than the original tyres, although not suprising as the understeer and power oversteer "feature" with the 010's, was bound to affect wear rate.

SO2's, fantastic tyres IMO.

My rears are wearing faster than the fronts, anyone else experiencing this?

Cheers for the responses guys. I have swapped them to the rear and have bumped up the pressure to 35psi so hopefully they will last out another 10,000 or so (my original RE010's lasted 15k).

Cheers,
David.

I've been through a few sets of SO2s and every set has worn on the edges with the front left wearing the most.I think most peeps who drive pretty hard wear the edges. As already mentioned running the pressures higher than standard helps a lot and doesn't seem to effect grip in the wet.

Changed the last set of S0-2's after 24,000 miles.
Swapped back to front every alternate service.
34psi on front and 32psi on rear. Standard MY98 UK Turbo.
Also, I don't think I drive like a fanny either!

Cool

Yup - still going after nearly 20k miles, though will need changing soon (legal requirements)

Done half a wet track day & 2 1/3 track days on them too

Generally swapped f-r every so often.

I'll still get 2 or 3 trackdays on them

& I do NOT drive like a *****

However, I think I probably drive with care of car/tyres in mind so that will reduce wear.

I noticed this on mine last week, fronts wearing on edges much more than across the centre. But the rears wear very evenly. I'm going to up the pressures.

But I've done about 8000 miles and the rears are almost gone now! Can't seem to get new SO2's... Has anyone mixed SO2's front and Toyo Proxies rear?
