Post discs and pad question

what's the best set up for a 05 wrx fast road driving and maybe track in future

good pads and standard discs
or
good discs and standard pads

Standard discs and 4-pots are perfectly adequate on road as long as you learn to drive in a way which negates the vast majority of braking. If like most you late brake into every corner then they might not be. They are just about up to occasional track use, but regular extreme sessions will require upgrades.

FWIW, I'd use OE discs £45/pr) with Performance Friction pads (or Mintex, Ferodo, Pagid, all good). Stainless braided lines with DOT5.1 fluid will help and at a minimal cost.
