Default Do rear tyres wear 1st?

Probbably a daft question but i'm pretty new to these cars, just bought 2 new tyres and wont all 4 to wear out as evenly as poss, the other 2 have done a couple of thousand miles so i'm guessing the new ones on the back should work out best . Incidentally i'm running michelin pilot sports, hope there ok cus they are blooody expensive .

Fronts always wear quicker because you steer with them. I'm still on the originals on the rear (MY03 40k miles) and my 3rd set on the fronts.

Cheers for the info chap, my thinking was more power to the rear hence more wear, new ones on the front it is then. :-)

Agree, I have had my MY99 for 8 years now and the fronts wear first. I tend to drive quite hard and also used Michelin, only I used Primacy's. They were really good tyres, the best I have had on any car but as you say they are expensive! I've just changed to 17's and am going to give Toyo T1R's a go next.

When your fronts get low, usually on the edges, fit some new ones and put them on the back. Move the rears to the front. This avoids having really old tyres on the rear. I'm sure the rears would be OK left on the back but I am a little cautious as rubber does perish over time. One other thing to remember is keep an eye on the pressures as under inflation will kill them quickly.

Yes, mine always wear fronts out first so I swap front to back to even them out
