Default New tyre time for 04STi

time has come to replace the Eagle GDS3 with something newer but they only do an assymettric one now. Any one had any experience of them or recommend any thing else?

I'll stick my 2p's worth in here.

Do some research before deciding on the RE070's.

I've had 2 sets - but now have F1's on though.
They are quite noisy, in the dry they are very very good grip wise.
In the wet - and I mean wet (not damp or drizzling etc) they are also very good grip wise which is surprising.

In weather like today (We'll Belfast anyway) very light rain, damp roads and cold
They are how shall we say "Challenging"
Perhaps verging on even dare I say dangerous.

They will provide no grip in these conditions.
They also (with me anyway) seemed to tramline badly towards say 75% used - that was on an MY05 STI

Just stuck some Assymetrics on today.
I must say I am more than pleasantly surprised by the amount of grip straight out of the box.
I normally run PS2s but fancied a change.
I wasn't particularly impressed with the old style Goodyear F1s. They were OK, but that's about it.
I have a second set of wheels with RE 070s, but I think I will just track them, as they are a bit impracticle, and I don't want to leave the other set sitting around with the rubber going off.
Speaking of which - does anyone know much about the subject of rubber degradation?

I would be interested to know how PS2s compare with F1 Asymmetrics.

Only had the F1s for a week now, but straight out of the box they are extremely good in wet and pretty damn good in dry.
The PS2s were down to about 2 mm of tread and were past it to be honest.
IMO the F1s are similar in feel, but more grip.
Visually, they look pretty similar.
I have actually been taking the car out for a spin just to enjoy the "new mod".
Will be interested to see if there is a trade off in wear rate.
If you get on with PS2s then my advice would be to give them a go.

I have no experience of PS2s, but I've been recently thinking of trying either them or F1 asymmetrics. My current tyres are Proxes T1Rs.
