humming noise when braking

humming noise when braking
Hi, have noticed a humming noise when braking - the tone of it seems to vary depending on the speed I'm slowing from. Any ideas? 02 bugeye wagon, drilled and grooved discs.

That will be the drilled and grooved discs that are humming.

thanks, am assuming then that it's a feature, and not a fault!?

Not a fault. When I had grooved discs on my last Impreza, they did hum slightly under braking.
Something to do with the air passing over and through the disc and also the pad on the disc also.
