Falken FK452 tyres opinions please

Junk.
Depends on your use of the car. If you need a tyre to be predictable in the wet, don't buy Falkens. Just my opinion, but I have used both and my current Goodyear F1's are a far superior tyre.

Yes exactly. There are some tyres that are just like driving on glass when you lose grip in the wet...and there are some that are constantly grabbing at the road trying to get grip. Always go for the latter. High end tyres are your safest and best bet.

Thanks for the quick tips guy's!
Was pretty sure I would get these opinions as I never really have been a fan of a budget or similar type of tyre on a any of the performance car's I've ever had but thought I'd ask anyway.
This is the second scoob I've had at the mo and I've only ever had Toyo's or Bridgestones in the past, When I got hold of this one last year, the previous owner had fitted a budget brand set of tyres called Achillies as the car was hardly used and mainly in storage.
It's running 17" Speedline ST2's and unfortunatly the tyres were virtually new so I've had them on since waiting for them to wear enough to justify a new decent set.
Initially, I was impressed with the grip in the dry for a budget on slightly spirited driving, but I soon found out that even on a slightly damp surface forget wet, they lose grip and let the car slide into understeer around roundabouts.
Turns out I may be going onto a set of 18" P-WRC1 wheels which need need tyres hence the Falken enquiry.
They come in at about £30 cheaper than the Toyo's or Goodyears but think I'll go with the majority of opinions on here and what I've had before and stick with a top brand!!
Thanks all.
Would be interested to know if anyone has had a good experience with any of the Falkens or any of the other budget brands??

I am now on my second set and rate them very well!
Compared to the toyo's I had the grip is very good. I just had to replace the fronts for another pair after 12 months and 16k so wear is not bad at all either.
Chaps over on the MLR rave about them and so do quite a few people on here.
I too am running 18's and certainly will be replacing them with another set again once worn out. Certainly have never had any grip issues (apart from last week!!) in the wet or dry.
They take approx 500 miles to scrub in but once done last well.
IMHO.

I've run 452s or 451s for several years on my last couple of cars. I rate them highly, better wear rate than some and plenty of grip. I replaced a set of Yoko 520's with my first set of these and wouldn't go for anything else unless I wanted road legal slicks (R888 etc)

Yeah, but they are all ghey.

They were on my car when I bought it. Seemed reasonable...................until I replaced them with Goodyears and realised what a good tyre can do for your car. IMHO it is well worth spending £100 or so extra for a set of 4.

I will only ever fit Falkens .... fantastic tyres, great grip - life is 2 years minimum.
Brilliant price too ... cannot rate them highly enough
Some people are snobs about tyres, as in other walks of life, I don't pay for names for names sake and to look good at a meet because I have the current geeks recomendation equipment on my car - get them, you won't look back

Criticism of Falken usually comes from people with no experience of them that see them as another 'economy' brand.
I've been using FK451 and 452's for years now. Have occassionally tried Toyo T1s and T1r, and various other tyres, but IMHO they're not outclassed in any way by so called 'premium' brands.
for what its worth I think they're a hell of a lot better tyre than the Toyo

I had the falkens on a second hand set of wheels i got, gave me no confidence, seemed to hate the wet, and would suddenly loose the back.
I fitted Yoko Parada Spec 2's, and love them, much better!

I had these on my old car when i got it and changed them in just two weeks , fortunately i have a friendly tyre guy who sorts me out some good deals , when i got my scooby i went back and thought i'd give another set a go but the guy wouldnt even fit them for me , in his and my opinion its nothing to do with tyre snobbery , You get what you pay for (imo) , having said that then depending on how you drive then value for money these could suit you down to the ground , i have just had some real twitchy moments on them especially in the damp/wet conditions , compared to other brands such as goodyear and michelin of which i find you can push that little bit further in these circumstances , which in turn leaves you feeling a lot more confident in coming out of the next turn you approach with a little more than a slow entry speed ,
This will always be a debate as it really is an each to their own situation , and all depends on how you drive your car and in what condtions you drive them in/how ,
IMO Of course

Of course, a lot has to do with your driving skills ..... I have never seen my Falkens 'slip' in the wet, but then again I have years of driving experience.
The best known tyre place in the South will tell you it is simply snobbery - they probably sell millions of tyres a month - that's good enough for me

Never tried 'em.
I do find it hard to belive that a tyre which lasts "two years" will be very grippy though!
Unless you drive around giving it the OAP all day long
Just my opinion of course - but I'm in the good brakes/tyres camp.(No I dont drive a pink EVO!)

I have had Falkens fitted to 3 of my 5 Scoobs and think their great. They where much better than the P Zero on Scoob number 2.
The 452 is being replace with the ZE912.
www.falkentyres.co.uk
I'll get them on Scoob number 5 when the current tyres wear.

just got a set and impressed so far. Much better in the dry than the OE Bridgestones and £30 less a corner. Wet has been fine too, drove through a flood yesterday and it wasn't a problem. Only understeer i've had was when i deliberately pushed it to see where the line was drawn.
