Default 4-Pot Lettering

Has anyone ever filed the SUBARU lettering off the front four pot calipers. The weight saving will be minimal, but it will look better when finished and I'm wondering whether removing the lettering will cause any problems, ie will it breech any of the brake fluid runs etc. They are not moving parts so there is no balance concern.

I can't imagine that any of the fluid runs are that close to the surface, esp in the lettering..... i thought about it myself a while ago, as the wheels i had were almost touching the lettering......

i thought about taking the lettering off the calipers but ended up giving them a lick of red paint and doing the lettering gold

I've done the lick of red paint thing, but I'm absolutely useless at painting the letters. If I can make the surface flat, I can add some stickers.

Rather than paint the lettering, try applying a tiny amount of paint (colour of your choice) to a tiling sponge. Dab gently, apply several "dabbings" until you're happy with the result. Its a lot easier than painting. Best of luck. Bob

Probably, I can be a bit like a bull in a china shop. I've bought some stickers that will apparently go on the raised lettering. I'll have a look but will probably end up filing them off, it's not difficult

try using a small gloss paint roller ( foam rollers from diy shops ) with white radiator paint ( spray can will do ) Then spray the roller and very gently roll over the lettering once only ... then wait for it to be touch dry and repeat. Probaly need to be done atleast 4 times over. I've done this and they came out great and have lasted over a year so far without fading, flacking etc
