18's:

Cons:

  • Heavier
  • Tyres cost more
  • Less comfortable ride due to lower profile of tyre
  • More expensive to buy than 17@ wheels (obviously)

Pros:
  • They look awesome.

I have 18's, they do look wicked, the ride is a bit harder, but a nice feel, the tyres are 215/35/18. so very low profile, there is one worrying thing i'd say, it with such a low profile, kerbs are scary, and i park about a foot away from them just incase. 17's still look just as good on the scoob, might be worth getting some pictures, and decide then. Will you be lowering in the furture??

Surely whether you get 17" or 18" you should choose tyres to match, ensuring that the overall diameter is the same. Same as each other certainly, but also the same as the original fitment if you want your speedo to read accurately. Given that, there shouldn't be any difference in their effect on the height of the car
