Default 17s or 18s? handling on a classic

Im looking at buying some new alloys for my classic and undecided what size to go for. I like the look of 18s but have been told they affect the handing and performance and tyres are expensive. I had 17s on my old scoob and they sempt ok. Anyone with any experience advise would be great. Also ive got a set of coilovers to go on too would they be ok with either wheels?

I have 18s on my classic and I have to admit from a looks point of view they're great. However from a practical point of view they're not. Thin tyres means a bumpy ride and its very easy to damage them. If I was to buy new wheels they would defo be 17s

Forget 18's they are just for looks, 17's will be spot on.

had 18s on my classic gone back to 17s the 18s were terrible for tramlinning and just didn't have the road holding 17s are far better imo

Went from 17's to 18's and havnt noticed any difference and my car is a track and drag car

As long as you stick to a light set of 18's you wont have any tramlining problems and a lot of that is tyre choice....

depends on how you drive and where to what your choice will be

Interesting. Was looking at getting some invoit 18s. however the car will be tracked. From this thread it sounds like i should stick with my 16's and spend the rest on some decent rubber.

I suppose i could get both and swap over for the track.
