I have marshall 717 tyres labeled "power racerII" (225/45R16) which were on the car when I bought it. They tyres are cheap and legal, however when they need replacing I intend to go for something a bit better (maybe Toyo, £20-£30 more expensive than the marshall but probably worth it) as I don't think they are great in the wet. At the end of the day it depends what you want, how you drive and how much you are wiling (or able) to spend.

Hope this helps

Martin

I used these on track and was surprised how good they were once warmed up,typical cheap tyre on the road.

We used to run Marshall 767 Power Racers as the control tyre in the 750 MC Stock/Hot Hatch championship before replacing them with the Yokohama A520. The Yoko was a generally good for an extra couple of seconds a lap on most circuits. The Marshall had a soft sidewall that used to flex and drive the tyre temperature and pressure very high so they would go off in a fairly spectacular manner.

A little extra cash will probably buy you a far superior tyre.

come to think about it,we did run the tyres slightly harder to stop the sidewall flex and we were only out for about 10min at a time.definitely better than the pirrelis (sp)and fuldas

I don't think I'll quite be pushing them through track type paces, was thinking more of a general road tyre ?
