Default Brake Disc & Pad Upgrade 1999MY UK Turbo 4Dr

Hi,

Has anybody got a 'How-To' guide on swapping out my disks & Pads on a 1999 UK Turbo ?

Also what do you all recommend as a Disk & Pad Upgrade ?

I've been quoted £300 for a set of Grooved disk & Kevlar Fast road pads from Godspeed, or Approx £350 for a Black Diamond setup

Already have braided lines & DOT5 fluid

Thanks

Andy

hello mate,go for the godspeed package, ian is a subaru brakes specialist and knows what hes talking about, his brakes will be much better than anyone else for that money.Front disk/pad change is easy, the front pads are held in with 2 pins that go through holes in the top of the pads and are secured with split pins, just remove splitpins and drive out the pins with a small drift, then the pads can be easily replaced, also a large anti rattle clip should be present, its again easy to refit once pins are removed. The disks will just come off in your hands, they dont even have a location grub screw into the hub,if they dont come straight off, just tap with a hammer. If you have a digital camera, just take pictures of each step you do, so you can see where the different items go..The most difficult bit will be undoing the two bolts that hold the calliper to the hub, they can be tight, spray with wd40,the day before you tackle the job.So undo calliper.and tie up out the way, change disk, refit calliper, remove pins and pads, force the calliper pistons back to acomadate new pads, put in new pads rattle clip and pins/split pins, job done!

Excellent Advice, Brakes all now swapped to a Godspeed Package thanks Ian .

Yes the change was as easy as stated, job all completed in 1Hr 45Mins, Only one of the rear calipers deceided it didn't want to undo but a good dose of WD40 whilst having a coffee & a tap with a rubber mallet sorted it.

Just got to sort out the strange right hand turn rubbing noise now, Ian has pointed me in what sounds like the right direction with the disk backplate, so its wheel off again in the morning to do some adjustment.

Brakes look Fab with the Grooves just got to bed them in gently now.
