Hi,

I'll be coming up for some new ones in a few thousand miles and I'm considering getting some standard OEM spec front pads for my MY99 uk model Turbo.

I never usually go to track days so road use is the most important thing for me. I'm using standard OEM pads and discs on the back and drilled, vented, grooved discs on the front with EBC red stuff pads.

Braking seems fine at the moment, although an enormous amount of dust appears due to the red stuff pads so I don't want to get them again.

I don't want pads that take a long time to warm up, create a lot of dust, squeal or cost a fortune. Would OEM pads fit the bill for me?

Most of the commonly recommended pads wouldn't fit the bill for you.

Mintex are dusty, Ferodo and Pagid are expensive.

The OEM pads aren't liked, so you could try something like Black Diamond Predator. They are about £45 from places like Scoobyparts (although you can find them for less if you try).

My thinking is that a lot of the specialist Scooby retailers sell them, so they can't be too bad or they would get fed up with complaints. They should be at least as good as OEM and a lot cheaper.

Most people seem to dislike EBC, especially Redstuff, so I wouldn't try them.

I've still got the original pads in mine, so I can't speak from experience, but I'll be trying the Black diamond Fast Track pads due to favourable reports and a sensible price.

Thanks for the help. Will probably consider the Black diamond Fast track pads or maybe some Mintex M1155. hopefully they won't wear as quickly as the redstuff did

For me it was between the M1155 and the Black Diamond FT (same sort of price).

The Mintex had the best stopping distance of all in the test I saw a couple of years ago, but most say that they create a LOT of dust. I also assume (maybe wrong) that they don't last long either. Depends on what is more important to you.

ah ok, thanks for the info. Sites that sell the Mintex pads seem also say they create a lot of dust so I think I'll go for the Black diamond Predator fast track. I can find them for about £85 unless anyone knows where they are cheaper?

Might get myself some of those and throw my Carbone Lorraine pads in the bin before they permanently ruin my alloys

I have Mintex 1155s atm I got them with my new discs and calipers and they squeek like hell, discs are warped as well!! Very dusty overall aswell.

Just bought some new discs from ebay and might try these Black Diamond pads

I wouldn't use the 1155s again, i'm embarrased to touch the brakes, the bloody noise they make

Mintex have been fine so far, no noise and no more dust than I would expect from new pads.
