Question New Pads MY06 WRX with cold performance

I will need new front pads for my 06 WRX in the next few weeks and the stealer wants circa £90 for the OE version.

I have been looking around for pads and there is a confusing amount of choice out there....

Can anyone recommend a pad for both normal and fast road use? They must be good performers from cold as I often have the family in the car.

I don't need track pads before anyone recommends any!

Thanks in advance,

Mark

Change to EBC Yellows all round and you will get the best out of some very good fast road pads

Had these on 53WRX and they feel excellent from new and from cold.

I guess your calipers are the same as my WRX ones only painted Red.

Codes for my pads were...

EBC Yellow Stuff Pads front (DP41200) and rear (DP4826)

EBC Brakes web shop

I had mine supplied and fitted for £200

EBC Yellows are rather woody from cold IHMO.

Can do you a set of drilled+grooved discs with ceramic/kevlar pads which will work well for £145+ Delivery (£10).

Only got one set left over from the GB we just ran:

Thanks for the replies -

53WRX - I was hoping to get better performance but at a lesser cost - circa £100 for a front set of pads would be max I could spend given that my 30k service just cost me £350...

Anyone got any other views on yellow stuff? Cold performance is really important so any other suggestions welcome - how about the Mintex range?

BOB'5 - Saw the GB but my discs are pretty good and don't really need to change the discs. If you hchange your mind about splitting I wouldbe interested in a price to shift the pads.

Don't know anything about yellow stuff. I'm a fan of Pagid Blue (RS4-2) which is fine from cold (good initial bite), low wear rate and kind to discs, and will provide a lot more stopping power than OE pads.

Hi Mark,

Mintex 1144's MINTEX BRAKE PADS / MINTEX PERFORMANCE PADS Front Brake Pads - M1144 98-2002- Incl WRX but NOT STi : £85.00 : Subaru Impreza Turbo Parts, Tuning, Spares & Accessories : Brakes - Front Brake Pads - would fit the bill nicely, I've used them on numerous cars for everything except track use. Also popular are Ferrodo DS2500 and Pagid RS4-2-1 (albeit a bit more expensive). Slightly cheaper are Black Diamond Predator and Mintex Extreme, but I cannot comment on these, maybe worth a search on here for opinions.

Rich.

Mintex are a good suggestion for normal road use.
There is a group buy going on, these pads are about £65 for a pair I think.

Just purchased some Godspeed grooved discs and Black Diamond Predator pads (PP-372) from Rimstyle for the 2007 WRX. Fronts only for now. £170 delivered for the lot.
