Default tyre query

would a 225/40/18 tyre cover an 8.5x18 rim adaquaetly or will i need to go to 235?
and which tyre would you go with on a new age michelin ps2 yoko parada2 or toyo t1?

225 will be fine mate, i can only comment on the parada 2's and they where spot on

I run 235's on an 8" rim.... think you are stretching it a bit, but ask before buying.

P.S. Are you sure you can get an 8.5" rim in without rubbing on something... ?

hope so! theyre an sti9 onwards specific wheel so i would imagine they should
not a disaster if i go to 235s but 225s give me a wider choice and quite a bit cheaper- plus same as original

Either will work, but IMO 225 is good on 8 inch & on 8.5 inch I would put 235 at least. But not a big deal either way.

Not tried Parada2, MPS2 are great tyres but for Scooby handling traits IMO too soft, especially sidewalls. I would go for Toyo Proxy T1-R in 235's

gone for the toyos in a 225,if they dont look right on the first rim il take it off and wait for the 235s. had toyos before and find they suit me and the car well but have heard good things about the pradas

At least stretching a narrower tyre will ease clearance issues, I have both 215 and 235 for mine and 215 miss by miles, 235 just catch on the rear (2002 STI).
