Default new brakes question

2 days ago i fitted some ebc grooved and blind drilled discs with red stuff pads to the front and rear. i've been taking it easy and have now covered just over 100 miles on them. all seems fine but i keep getting brake squeal at low pressure braking. when i fitted the brakes i couldn't re-fit the shims back in as there was simply no room so had to leave them out. i did copper grease the back of the pad though before i fitted it. is this the root of my problem?

any ideas would be great, thanks

Hi jpmmilling, I do believe you can remove the pads and chamfer the front leading edge off. I had Greenstuff pads a while ago and they recommended leaving the shims off and as you said there is not much room anyway. I did this and it stopped the squeaking. I think you may also need a little more bedding in time. If you have done 100 or so miles it depends how much breaking was done in that time.

hi there, when you say the leading edge do you mean the sides that slide along the guide plates?

Hi, no sorry I didn't make it very clear did I. The actual friction part of the pad that comes into contact with the disc. Just take the 90 degree front edge off. Rounded back a bit seemed to be enough for mine.
