Default Powerstation Porsche brakes - good or gimmick?

Are Powerstation's Porsche brakes for the Impreza worth their almost £2k price tag??

Anyone got them?

I was wondering the same, are they any better than 355/362mm AP 6 Pots?

My question precisely!!! On the powerstation website it says they're AP discs and fitting kit with Porsche calipers.

Is there something very special about Porsche calipers?

Made my own porsche kit for my Integrale. Calipers are just Brembo's.

Can be had easily from the specialist breakers.

They worked great but no better than the std gold STI Brembo's i have on my classic scoob now.

Apparently they are the same as the ones on the gt3 cup race series. I have been considering these also, but would like to hear from someone who has these.

Powerstation said they have sold a dozen of these in the last couple of months, so if anyone on the forum have them please give tell us your opinion

You must be using a different caliper and rotor set-up then. Standard Brembo's are UTTER PANTS compared to this set-up! lol

A lad in our club, the Irish Subaru Owners Club has them fitted to his Forester STi - Forester has been well fettled and is pushing out 386bhp - Track day last month he did the whole day in the Forester (300k's heavier than an Impreza) and no fade at all - I had a few laps with him & they were savage for braking.
Can't compare any other big brake kits but I know these powerstation ones are brilliant.

My mate had them on his P1 and said they were awsome. He replaced his Wilwoods with them.

I have a set on my type r very good faultless at spa last november ok slightly more than the a.p kit ohh and they do look the bizz.

Be carefull when having these fitted you need at least 18 inch wheels and some wheels do not fit !!!! all down to the offset of the wheel. And you may need spacers....

On the Integrale the Porsche calipers where 911/944 turbo s2 (same caliper) and 315mm x 32mm grooved discs with Ferodo DS pads. The scoob has the std discs and Performance Friction pads, No noticable difference around Cadwell IMHO. Should i want too both could lock up at will.

I'm sorry mate, but give me a set of standard Brembo's on track and I can get them to fade very quickly. As of yet I have never been able to fade a set of AP 6pots with 355 rotors (which would be a comparable set-up to this PS brake kit) on track.

Just for information..... the kit that PS sell is the same set-up as used on their 2006 Time Attack Spec C. Again.... Phil Keen never experienced brake fade in competition whilst driving that car.

Boyakasha,
Apparantly the brake feel is better.

I'd second that, I am after the best brake setup which will allow me newage to keep up with the caterham boy's braking distances!

It would be good to see some info on just how good the Porsche caliper kit is - ie braking distance etc or are there cheaper alternatives?

Hmm, when i really think about it, i cant justify £2k on front brakes.
Thats a lot of money.

The PS kit is fairly similar to the AP kit as the discs are AP but the Porsche calipers are machined from a solid billet so they are not 2 pieces bolted together (reducing caliper flex) and the pistons are ceramic.

Perhaps a group buy will reduce the price, however i would like to know just how good these are before that....

AP calipers are the real deal, fit them. They're cheaper too. I did!
