Default Brembo - Best Pad?

Hi Guys,

Just had my 20k service (MY05 STi on 17k miles), and have been told that my pads are 70% worn with about 4k left in them.

Question is: Do i go for standard Brembo pads since im being told that my disc's are fine? or do i go for an aftermarket solution?

One of my mates has an Evo 8 MR and he swears by Carbotech, but i dont see much mention of them on this site? (perhaps im not able to use the difficult search function we now seem to have properly?!).

What do you guys go for / recommend?

Usuage wise the car doesnt get tracked, but i am considering a trip to Nurburg hopefully within the next year... so they would need to be able to cope with that... but that being the exception i guess just fast road use

Thanks in advance,

Ant x

hi ant
i put up a simular question yesterday but had no replys,
so i contacted bgd in bromsgrove who supply brakes and they recomend ferodo DS2500 for fast road & ocasional track days and are ideal for the ring. Also i think they use these pads with the prodrive upgrade

I used the DS2500 pads on my classic impreza for the occasional track and day to day running around and they did me good. Am thinking of putting them on my new age now to go to the ring also.

I Have the Ferodo DS2500 pads on my front Brembos and find them excellent. A massive improvement over the standard pad. More than twice the price but I reckon around 3 times better stopping power.

ive had o/e and ebc reds. they seemed similar to be honest. I have fitted some mintex extreme in the last two weeks. There pretty cheap. But they are so much better than the others ive tried, Initial bite is brilliant and i cant get them to fade, ive tried. I could get the reds to overheat but never tried with the o/e ones

Can sort you out with some Performance Friction pads (Z Compound) for £100 (front set) which will work well.

Have a search for reviews on here

I've got these and abused them at a trackday and they where excellent, they also have perfect road manners.
Same can also be said for the DS2500 as a mate has these.
