Don't use them at Elvington, I shredded a set in 120 miles. As Dunx suggests use something like 36 to 40 Front and 32 to 36 rear maintaining the differential. Go high on abrasive surfaces or the edges will just get scrubbed off.
No idea about baffled sumps, I have a Blob STi with whatever is standard sumpwise and had no probs. Scoobyclinic have advised oil cooler and gauges but havn't said anything about sump and I'm sure they'd be quick to suggest/sell me whatever if they thought it necessary.

Run them at about 31psi hot on track, which roughly equates to 26psi cold, but setting them hot allows for the differing wear / heating from the useage. Set them to 30 psi cold to start with and just keep taking air out after track sessions until they are stable at about 31 psi.
Baffled sump - it depends on whether you use them to the full. If you have a well sorted suspension set up and can drive to really use the 888's you will need a baffled sump.
888's not on track ... not sure I would want to do that - they do not cope with standing water at all and will very quickly bite you.

I haven't tracked mine (yet !) but only the Xmas monsoon up near Hawes gave me any real problems (slush and ice !)...
Bit noisy, a bit soft, but fabulous grip !

Std Toyo's - i would put the pressure up because the sidewall is so soft that they will scrub the writing off when tucking under but you dont have that issue with the 888.
They are our control tyre in Time Attack this year and are immense on track (bit expensive for running day to day though i think) the new R1-R will be a better day to day tyre when it is released.

I thought that when I got my 888's.
I am running them on the road. I have found no problems with them even in wet conditions. I went through a flood yesterday with no problems, there must have been at least a foot of water! Only doing about 20mph though.
When there is standing water I just take it steady, certainly with the speedlimit on motorways there is no issue whatsoever. Did 330 miles yesterday with not a problem.

Torben, Thats a good link, plenty to think about there and supports Dynamix's assertions, R888s being a particular case. I'm unlikely to buy another set as they're just too expensive for a bit of fun at trackdays. I'm currently dabbling wirh Hankook RS2s.
Spen, my experience of R888s in the wet was at Elvington when I hit some standing water whilst on the ragged edge at about 80. Most alarming.
