Default Bit of a strange question this..

Are there any cars/setups that use two callipers with one disk, mind was just wondering and thought I would ask if they exist?

old grp4 Escorts used to run 2x rear calipers per side - 1x for h/brake (as in competition use) and 1x for normal footbrake...........

why??

One of the old touring cars around 1990 use to run 2 x 4 pot calipers per front disc , cant remember which one though.

If it worked they would have all done it , you would probably end up with too much braking power for the available grip , which would be even less on road tyres.

I think i've seen Bentley's with two calipers on each front disc.... could be wrong though!

Its driving me mad, Im sure i saw a pic of a wheel off of a production car with what looked like two callipers.

s type super charged jag had two on the back the extra one for the hand brake

yes as said bentley turbo uses 2 on the front,can find out what model if you like?

I think one of the Maybach huge cars has two calipers per corner and huge discs. Its a heavy old car though I would think so probably why.

Default Radial disc caliper

Ford have been working on a radial Disc caliper set up for a few years, they even sucessfully raced it, on a porsche though. Several pads around the entire disc.

I had a look at my bosses Bentley Coupe, noticed that as well, top caliper looked like a 2-Pot floating caliper you find on a scooby and the bottom one was a slightly larger unit but couldn't tell what it was.
