Hi,
I have just had Goodridge braided hoses and Ferodo DOT 5.1 fluid fitted in MY07 WRX. The dealer mentioned it would improve the brake feel (it hasn't at least in normal/town driving).
I just noticed though that the brake fluid cap says to use only DOT 3 fluid!
Will there be any damage/problem now that I am using DOT 5?

no issues with the 5.1 its fully compatible with your system........

you would normally get a better pedal feel, maybe they aren't bled correctly??

That's what I thought too initially but I was there when he bled them and he was very thorough with his work. Is it normal to bleed the brakes with the engine switched off (i.e. no servo assistance?)
They may be a bit more direct than before but you still need to push quite hard (as before) to stop.

it isn't going to make the pedal easier to push, that is simply down to the general lack of servo assistance in the Subaru set-up............

you get used to it and is far easier to modulate at higher speed applications than the more usual 'over-servoed' European style cars

Braided hoses all round should give you a much firmer pedal feel, I found them to be a big improvement.
