MY06. Brake Pads on WRX.
I was recently having some 'issues' with braking (or not) on my MY06 WRX. Just thought I would let everyone know what is now working for me after asking loads of questions.
Here is the spec now.
1) Grooved discs on Front, Standard on Rear.
2) Braided Hoses all round.
3) Pads changed from Ferodo DS2500 to O.E Subaru all round.
4) DOT 5.1 changed for O.E Subaru fluid.
I have now got the initial bite back and loads of brake 'feel'. No fade due to the grooved discs which I am lead to believe help remove the gasses that cause fade and the braided hoses help with the bite issue I was complaining of on my other posts.
Like I said this works for me and the way I drive so others may not agree with this and the way they drive.
I will get bigger discs/calipers in the future when funds allow.
Hope it helps.

Interesting post. I've been thinking of getting mine done so could I ask: Where did you get this done? (I live in Oxfordshire too.) How much were you charged? How are the brakes round town (ie when you're not "on it")?
Cheers.
Cheers.

I wanted the brakes better in normal situations i.e. town and driving to work. I personally thought that the DS2500's were ****! Even after warming them up. My mate drove my car and he thought I was imagining it until he pressed the brake pedal! He told me to sort it immediately! I have just had a quick thrash on the way home from work and used them properly and like I said no fade and loads of bite! If you want a setup for normal driving and for playing I recommend it. Im no expert but I know what works. Track days I would probably buy a big brake setup but not cheap maybe after xmas and when I have worn these pads out.

Oh and do it yourself piece of ****. But if you are not mech minded, I'm an Engineer, then you could buy the bits and get them fitted by a local garage its all generic really. Prodrive do a upgrade kit with pads, grooved discs and braided hoses so Subaru is another option but expensive look at the accesories page on there web and then add a couple of hours at £55.
