Default cleaning calipers

i have just bought some second hand calipers and i am wanting to paint them....however they could do with cleaning before hand.....is there anything u would recommend to get rid of the brake dust,grime and all the other stuff!

Used wire brushes in a drill, easily removed all crap and paint etc to leave ready for painting. Hammerite is fine but seems to chip easily.

Any grease etc, use Wickes paintbrush cleaner as a degreaser. It's harmless and can be washed away with clean warm water.

When i bought mine i got them polished to remove all the gunk and crap that were on them (admittedly we do have a polishing shop where i work)
