Default V1 STI Brakes...poor?

Is it me or are all early STI brake p*ss poor. My first v2 STI brakes seemed pretty poor considering the power of the engine and the same with my new v1 STI wagon.
Anyhow have taken this "oppununity" to get some Mintex Extreme pads and new unbranded grooved discs, hopefully this will improve things.
Pending the arrival of the discs i'm hoping to get them on tommorrow, is there anything worth nothing when changing the fronts or is it a straight forward disc/pad change?

My STI v2 brakes are fine - they need a good shove on the pedal, no doubt about that, but the car stops OK. Much better, in fact, than the freshly imported STI V that I drove a couple of weeks ago - they must use wooden brake pads in Japan, I've never driven a car with so little stopping power.

Aren't the first STI brakes 2pots?
If so that's most probably why they are poor.

My V1 STI brakes were 2 pot and very poor. I upgraded to Subaru 4 pots which were marginally better.

I've got a 300bhp classic with 2 pots. They were not very good with green stuff, as fitted when I bought it. Have recently upgraded to groved discs Mintex Extreme and braded hoses. It stops now but am still going to fit a brake stopper.

braided hoses are a good start to sort the feel of stopping, imo.

Could not agree more, all classic scoob brakes are pants, 2 pots are shocking and 4 pots not too much better, best of with AP's.
