Clonk On Brakes I Think when braking and pulling away * BREMBOs*
Hello,
Got a clonking noise when i pull away or accelerate or brake, sound slike the rear brake pads moving in the caliper or something. Could this be wright?
I have a 2005 with Brembo's

The pads sound like they are moving within the calipers. Spring missing maybe? You can get pads which go twixt piston and pad which stop them moving around. Not at all serious, just annoying.

It will just be your pads moving, as said, nothing to worry about but damn annoying.
To fix it you can replace the shims etc but that will only work for a short while as they will wear out eventually too.

I have the exact same problem on my sti3 with standard 4pots.
The wazzock who had the car before me fit uprated discs and pads but didn't re-fit the shims. I have had mechanics tell its the diff, prob union, shock absorber etc etc. Could it really be that simple?

Yep got the same on mine except i'm the wazzcok
Got new shims in a box under the stairs but completely forgot when I fitted my new pads and discs. Mine clonks like a good un' especially when braking during reversing. Will be fitting them shims tomorrow!

It is that simple.
Think about it, it only happens when you move off even very slowly and when you reverse so it has to be something moving out of place.
If it was your diff then the whole car would judder. Can't see how a worn shock absorber would make a clunk.
