Maxxis tyres - Fronts worn on inner edges
My recently acquired 03MY WRX has 215/45 ZR17 MAXXIS tyres fitted all round. The front two have worn on the inner edges, but the rear's are 100%, and look almost new.
I'm having my wheels powder coated ( in gold! ) on monday, so all the tyres are coming off. Should i replace the front's with a new pair of MAXXIS, as i believe from what i've read, these are quite a good budget tyre? Or are they pants, and should be replaced with real tyres?
This car is predominantly driven by the wife, and so never gets driven hard.

Even if the tyres are pants it doesn't explain uneven wear. Sounds like a toe out problem. Best get proper 4 wheel alignment done by a specialist. Car will then handle a lot better as well.

I agree with getting the car checked. I got my car 8 months ago and found that the rear passenger side had worn quite a bit on the inside compared to the rest.
Took it to a geometry specialist and he found that the car was 1 degree out at the rear. This is a lot apparently....
Took him 30 minutes to do whole car for 45 quid. What a HUGE difference it made to handling , AND tyre wear has been sorted out... well worth it mate

You can get the front inner edge wear if the car has had the geometry setup quite aggressively (eg prodrive/whiteline settings for fast twisties) and you then do a lot of m'way/steady driving..!
In this instance it's to do with the amount of camber the cars running, however, wear on one side only is usually down to mis alignment..
Note, the fronts will wear almost twice as quick as rears under most circumstances, hence why most people rotate f-r every 6k or so. This has the advantage of renewing all four together and keeping the f+r rolling circumference within acceptable limits for the centre diff..
