Default Rear Hubs

I have just finished refitting my calipers and bleading my breaks, and i was going to check the hand break was not binding before taking the car off the axle stands.
Anyways, the rear hubs seem quite hard to turn even with the wheels on, now i havent even tightened the hand break up yet, so whats the problem, is this normal for a 4x4? or do i have a problem some where?

Presume front wheels on the ground you'll be fighting the middle and rear LSDs. I'd expect to be hard to turn. Never happened to try my rears like this but my fronts are definitely hard to turn (03STi with front LSD as well).

No, the car is up in the air on axle stands, so all 4 wheels are free, when i turn 1 wheel the other 3 also move (MY99 STI 5 Type-R) I presumed there would be some resistiance, but this seems to much imo.

If you're turning all 4 wheels and the whole transmission I think it may well be hard. Think of the losses mappers allow for crank vs wheels power. If you can't hear the handbrake shoes rubbing I suggest you put it back in service and stop worrying. Drive it around for a bit and then check the rear hubs for excessive heat. If hot then handbrake too tight, if not it must be normal. Drive and enjoy.

I had mine up on axle stands not long ago and yep the backs are f**kin hard to turn even with fronts off the deck. i had a small diff leak and thought the worst, but sorted the leak and checked oil levels and it all functions ok.
